What are Glue Records?

When setting custom nameservers, you are able to set glue records - or, nameservers that are a part of the domain that's they're being set to. This is not a common use-case, but they're useful if you have your own nameservers that you wish to set up.

Please note that your glue record will need to be setup in your DNS records before you can use it. Please refer to our DNS management article for more details on how to manage your DNS records.

Glue Records on .NZ domains

We currently do not support glue records for .NZ domains through the Control Panel due to registry requirements around providing IPv4 addresses. We are currently looking into ways to enable glue records for NZ domains through the Control Panel.

If you require a glue record, please contact us with the following information:

  • The domain name
  • The glue record(s) you wish to assign
  • Their IPv4 address(es)
